Terrible start to Cricket World Cup 2007!

The current Cricket World Cup has had a terrible start! Pakistan lost their two matches to West Indies and Ireland (that was as ignominous as it can possibly get) and India lost its first match to Bangladesh (again an ignominous feat). Now Pakistan is out of the tournament and India is on the brink of being thrown out!

Close on the heels of Pakistan’s loss, its Australian coach was found dead in his room under mysterious circumstances:

Although Mir declined to confirm the cause of death or if Woolmer had died in his hotel room or hospital, he added: "Hotel staff found him about 1030. He was laid out on the floor, with mouth wide open and blood on the bathroom floor … and there was vomit on the walls."

Pardon me but how can a 58 year old suddenly die in this manner unless he was into drugs and alcohol or something of that sort? My first thought is that it is a murder by someone involved in the underworld. Why? Because someone out there made lots of money on Pakistan’s defeat through betting! And if Woolmer may have come to know of all this.. the chances are that he could be eliminated! I maybe seeing a lot of spy movies these days 🙂 but I cannot help think of the worse when this Pakistani team involved!

Hope the rest of the tournament goes on without any untoward incident!
