An Indian Civilizational Perspective

Why Day Cares for Kids are such a BAD IDEA!!

This is a very instructive study! The world in the US day cares is pretty bad! We tried one of the "good" ones for sometime.. and it wasnt good. Since then we have had a nanny at home who gives complete attention to our kids! Also, the local temple pre-kindergarten where teachers were very caring was a godsend – specially in the US!!

The more time that children spent in child care, the more likely their sixth grade teachers were to report problem behavior.

Also, children who got quality child care before entering kindergarten had better vocabulary scores in the fifth grade than did youngsters who received lower quality care.

The findings come from the largest study of child care and development conducted in the United States. The 1,364 children in the analysis had been tracked since birth as part of a study by the National Institutes of Health.

    Hi Desh,

Nice post! A month back I had written a poem on this thought, if you like show it on your blog.

    The portray words
    Always have ears
    Let my poetry be heard
    See, some thoughts
    If they liked by you
    Give applause and some clue
    Some lost traditions
Is what my wish, would like to view
    In light of today’s stew
    Though I am bit gibberish
As may be looked by few
    But tell me dude
    Adopting those lost wisdom
    Is not a virtue?
    What much will change?
    If woman of today
Do not go out of the hay
    For that extra pay
And take care of children and elders at bay
Is family going to lose some shimmering ray?
Lets sit on coffee and chat with gooffe
Leaving behind your, year old baby with
Nanny to be a day care mom
    Then someone, to replace you
    For your handsome!
Shall that be ok with you?
Nah!! That was just a thought
    Which keep pouring
    I rhyme them in words
    As, they keep soaring.

Prams – another good poem.. that conveys a lot of things! I guess.. everyone has different circumstances… and it is tough to judge.. I grew up in a day care.. and I know my Mom had no alternative! She is such a great advocate of women working.. that she will even go to the extent to advising women to run away from their family to make sure they work. She was just a headmistress in a Govt. school.. but is a very strong person!
