Now this is ambitious! There was an attempt to create the Golden Quadrilateral highway system.. but it hasn’t come about easily.. except for the Metro system in Delhi, no other major project has come about. But if Sreedharan, the guy who led the Metro construction, is made in charge and Japanese do an honest job.. then chances are this may come true! Of course, we need some special measures for the poor on the way and a way to stop the politicians from talking BS!!
The Indian Trade Minister announced that Japan has offered to assist India in constructing a $50 billion industrial corridor between Delhi and Mumbai starting from January 2008. The project will include a high-speed rail freight corridor, three new seaports and six airports. He added that India is also planning to upgrade its existing industrial units, build 12 new industrial clusters, 10 logistic parks and agricultural hubs alongside the corridor. He added that India expects to attract $25 billion in foreign direct investment in the year to March 2008, compared to $15 billion in the fiscal year of 2006-07.
