There is this big question of what is distasteful and what is not when it comes to respect for others and freedom of speech. What is politically correct to say in public is the flip side of what is freedom of speech.
My favorite example of what freedom means is:
A certain Mr. Smith was dancing around on the streets of London waving his hands all over the place! Well, soon he hit one Mr. Jones on his nose as he started bleeding. Mr. Jones complained to the police and Mr. Smith was brought to the magistrate. Mr. Smith said in his defense "My lord, I am a free man in a free society in a free land! i can do anything!". The Magistrate replied back "Of course, Mr. Smith, you are a free man in a free society in a free land; but your freedom stops where someone else’s nose starts!"
The problem is when the noses start becoming longer for no reason. This news article is a classic example. The teachers in UK do not want to teach about Jewish Holocaust – because …. and this is beyond my imagination….. Muslims will be offended by it!! I just do not get it! Why would Muslims get offended if you teach that Killing Jews was a bad thing???? It is as if to expect that a Jew should be massacred is a BIRTH RIGHT of a Muslim!! Freedom in a society cannot get sicker than this.. plain and simple!! Just read below…
Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Governmentbacked study has revealed.
It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.
There is also resistance to tackling the 11th century Crusades – where Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem – because lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.
And then the Muslims in Europe are surprised by the hostility they face there! If you are sooooo fu**king VOYEURISTICALLY intolerant that you ENJOY and rejoice someone’s extermination and feel OFFENDED at its mention…. then… is it any surprise that people hate you??
And this is not an isolated incident.. in India, for example, it is almost blasphemous to talk about the unspeakable atrocities that were brought upon Hindus and Sikhs by the Mughals.. specifically Aurangzeb! So much so, that none of the history books talk about the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur.. although he was a contemporary of Aurangzeb!! Like I say, I never saw a picture of Gurudwara Sis Ganj in my history book.. although it was major landmark in the history of Sikhism… – one of the 3 main religions to have originated in modern India!!
