This time on the plane I met this gentleman who had a rather interesting job.. he writes content for a website that provides content to pastors for their sermons. These guys look up movies – Hollywood movies – and then find instances that could be used for the sermons. But there are sites that offer just plain content.. of various types for the sermons. The main one is SermonCentral. Just look at their mission and make up your own mind!!
According to this guy, thousands and thousands of pastors in over 18 countries were their customers. Isn’t that amazing? I mean, when people go to their church I am assuming they go to listen to their pastor and HIS take on the Holy book.. isnt it? For this guy to just look up some websites and prepare for the sermon and regurgitate stuff – without believing or knowing the context (for this movie based sermon site’s USP is that the pastor do not need to spend money to see the actual movie… they just use the content!).. isn’t that downright cheating the followers in a Church??
The more I come to know of the commercialization of the Church – and I have no idea how it all functions – the more disgusted I become of how callously Jesus has been treated in the Western – probably world over – Churches! He has been just a money-making machine! Look at the carefully worded mission of the website above and make your mind at the hyprocrisy of the entire "game" that goes on!
If Jesus was indeed to come in flesh.. different face but same outfit that he had and the same level of wealth (or rather lack of it).. do you think he would ever be allowed into any of these Churches – who are merely looking for money??
