An Indian Civilizational Perspective

Taliban hang a kid for possessing US Dollars!

Are we seeing a return of the Taliban fundamentalism – a revival of the 1980-90s era?? With Iraq now a quagmire.. and Iran being brought into the equation by the US, and Afghanistan back to its old times (Bamiyan Deja vu), the world threat from the idiots in the US administration – who won’t fight the wars they should and fight the wars they shouldn’t – and the Islamic extremists is at an all-time high!

Here they hanged a kid who was caught with US Dollars in his possession.

Taliban militants hanged a teenager in southern Afghanistan because he had U.S. money in his pocket, and they stuffed five $1 bills in his mouth as a warning to others not to use dollars, police said Monday. Taliban militants elsewhere killed eight police.

The 15-year-old boy was hanged from a tree on Sunday in Helmand, the most violent province in the country and the world’s No. 1 poppy-growing region.

The great strength of fundamentalists is that they do not think they know. Therefore they can carry out atrocities like the Talban murder you report without compunction. They know they are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

The great weakness of fundamentalists is that they do not think they know. Their creed means they cannot adapt. Any deviation from the “true” path is heresy. It is easy to become a heretic and friends quickly become enemies.

This is the best hope for the rest of us. The fundamentalists will turn against each other before they annihilate the rest of us.

I have embarked on an attept to understand what is going on and why and to explain it is simple terms on my blog at http://www.thinkhard.org/2007/
