Look how Ricky Ponting, Aussie Captain lies blatantly!!

ponting.jpgDue to complete lack of sportmanship and mindless games that Australians have played to win over India in the ongoing series including the indictment of Harbhajan Singh, India may suspend the tour from here on.

To best understand the mess here is the incident that says it all.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni played and Ricky Ponting, the captain “caught” the ball at silly point. He appealed vociferously! Dhoni was given not out. But the Indian journalists questioned Australian captains integrity at having been so adamant and emphatic! As the ball had been grounded while catching, what was the sense for all that drama? To which Ponting started casting aspersions on the journalist itself – despite the inconvertible evidence from the replays:

“There’s no way I grounded that ball,” Ponting told a press conference. “If you’re actually questioning my integrity in the game, then you shouldn’t be standing there.”

Thats not all – he again emphasized the assertion:

“I’m saying I’m 100% sure I would have caught that catch off Dhoni,” Ponting said. “As it turned out it was given not out anyway, am I right or wrong?”

Unfortunately for him, the camera caught his act as well. Look at the shot. Two things are obvious:

1. the ball is on the ground, while being caught
2. His eyes are firmly planted on it, while he is appealing!

So, not only was it NOT a catch, he also KNEW it wasnt!! Do you see the utter hypocrisy and shallowness of this captain??

  1. To catch a ball you have to control it. Ponting controlled the ball before he got up putting his hand – with the ball in it – on the ground. How is that different to a skip fielder throwing a ball in the air after catching it? It often will hit the ground, but the catch is completed when the ball is under control. In any case – even through the ball brushed the batsmen’s glove this was given not out.

  2. Did you even see the catch? Go check on the other post.. and moreover the way Ponting is fallen down, it is pretty obvious that he NEVER controlled the ball! In any case you go check out the video in my other post.. if my nephew in street cricket in India would have appealed on such a catch he would not be in the team just for being clueless on basic cricket rules! Get some sense on some cricket rules will you?

  4. Take a look at http://www.baggygreen.com.au and see Dhoni and Harbhajan in a test vs England. Dhoni is a disgrace, it almost bounced out of his glove from the ground.

Blatantly “Chetan” thats the name of the Indian manager, since when is it a “hang-up” to call someone who is black a “monkey”… “defuse the crisis”.. Ricky Ponting has been leading a National Team that has produced a record in Test wins, as well as record in Complaints to ICC.
It sickings me the way the Indians have spun this into such an attack on our Capt.

  5. Perhaps you should check out the following moments in Indian cricket history!!! Harbi refuses to walk when he gets bowled and Dhoni claims it when it bounces!!!! Short memory pal!!!

I’ll acknowledge that we (Australia) over stepped the line, but quite clearly we are not the only ones!!
