Delhi Metro Bridge in Lajpat Nagar collapses

A Delhi Metro bridge has collapsed. It was under constructtion and close to Lady Sriram College in Dhamrudpur in Lajpat Nagar. The incident happened at 5 am. 6 people including an engineer were killed. Meanwhile DMRC Chief E Sreedharan has given his resignation owning the moral responsibility of the incident.

“As the head of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, I take moral responsibility for the incident…So I have decided to resign and I have put in papers and I have sent it to Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit,” he said.

This is indeed an aberration in the otherwise great work that DMRC has done till date. While everyone must try and find out what went wrong, Sreedharan should not be let go at this time. He is one of the most able people in the entire country as far as administration of projects go!
