How site’s load speed impacts its success and revenues of the e-commerce sites

Impact of slow loading websites is tremendous on their success.  Web pages that load slowly can literally destroy the future of the online venture.  Here are some interesting facts:

  • 18% of shoppers will abandon their carts if pages load too slowly. And just a 1-second delay in load time can hurt revenues by 7%. (link)
  • Up to 78% of users say they’ve felt stress or anger while using a slow website, 44% of users say that slow online transactions make them anxious about the success of the transaction, and 4% of people have thrown their phone while using a mobile site. (link)
  • Studies show that 57% of online customers will abandon a site after 3-second. Many users tell others about their negative experiences and never return to the site. Just a 1-second delay can hurt revenues by 7%.

7% impact per second on the top line is a BIG one for any e-commerce company.  And guys this is not a case of “entitlement” by the ADHD type of consumers, but because of neuroscience reasons.

Here is an interesting blog on the impact of speed of loading on websites itself – along with a report and infographic.  Reproducing the Infographic below.
