Trump Society: How “Grab them by the Pussy” became mainstream “Banter!”

Let me just say this like it is – a women’s “pussy” is now a mainstream “banter”.  Offended?  Who cares?!! And if you have a daughter or a mother listening to prime-time news, please help explaining it to them, because collectively, Americans – millions of them – have chosen a bigot and an abusive predator to be one of the main candidates in the US presidential race – Donald Trump!

People in today’s America are bigots.  They hate Muslims.  They hate Mexicans.  They hate Blacks.  And they hate anyone who is not White.  He represents the one-man Army who will avenge all the hatred that these bigots harbor.  Whatever anyone who hates the other cannot do himself, he wants it to be done via Trump!  Trump is the Bigotry Messiah of the US.  He takes action to help people live their paradise of bigotry.

His abuse and foul-mouthed language laced with bigotry has become mainstream and common place.  Trump supporters justify it as a reaction to “Political Correctness.”

Certain traditions – which include “political correctness” – are followed in a society for a reason.  In fact every society has two types of rules – Written and Unwritten.  The Written ones are laws.  The Unwritten ones are traditions or rules followed as a matter of social norm.  No one forces the latter, but people do follow them regardless.  Anyone can break the norms and sometimes people do.  Social pressure takes the toll on those who break those norms.  But when a lot of people break those Unwritten rules, it impacts many.  And soon, to set the situation right, Written rules replace the Unwritten ones.  Now, instead of traditions we have laws for something that allowed enough social flexibility to change things as we go.  Laws are fossilized and set.  Inflexible.  That is the price a society pays for breaking traditions.

There was a time in India, when drinking alcohol was encouraged.  In fact, I remember in my lifetime that those “Uncles” who used to drink would do so stealthily.  They would hide that they had had a drink.  Alcohol was not found in any house.  Soon things changed.  Everyone and anyone could drink.  Reason – the younger generation was “fed up” with political correctness and “hypocrisy”.  Good point… but the result of this?  Many became alcoholics.  Those, who found it difficult to get a hand on alcohol could do so now, specially when down (which is a LOT of times in a month!).  And soon it became a habit.

It is like keeping a gun in your house.  The point isn’t that you will kill willy nilly… but when things get really bad and you are angry, chances are that in that madness you might use it.  And millions DO use it!  If, however, the gun wasn’t around, you would probably swear or slap the other person, but certainly the damage won’t be as much as by using a gun!

The post-Trump world now has a “gun in the house.”  The alcohol of bigotry is readily available and it is “cool” to use it as well.  Those who found it distasteful to swear and abuse women in public or push progeny of immigrants under the bus because of their ancestry – are now okay.  It would – for example, just to drive it home to the Indian Americans who support Trump – be PERFECTLY fine in the US to put aside the coming generations of Indian-Americans in any job simply because his forefathers were from India!

That is the new normal!

But what the American generations were not fully ready for was the regressive march – nay run – to the 1000 years old ethos, where women were just objects and sexual toys.  For that is where Trump has left the mainstream discussion at.

The profane is out and there is no way to put this genie back in the bottle again.

Lets be clear – its not as if men are angels in this day and age versus say 1400 years ago.  But like the Indian families of the past in terms of alcohol, the behavior like Trump’s has been done in hiding.  And the leaking of such information has been known to be suicidal.  And absolutely not bragged about.  And certainly not done openly by a Head of State as a matter of habit!!

Now it is!

It is now easy and completely OK to be like that.  So if the kid in your neighborhood acts the way Trump does with your daughter, what do you do?  Specially if he points you quietly to the photo of your President?!  Effectively saying – “you created this monster, now deal with the consequences.”

When that happens – and happen it will sooner than later (its a when and not if!) – then remember what you traded the safety of your daughters for?!  Manifestation of victory of your bigotry.  And when – again not if – your daughter is molested in that kind of a society – try explaining the utility and benefits of your bigotry to her.  Remember explaining to her how you voted for a man who bragged about how easy it is to grab a woman’s pussy if you have the power!  May you have the strength to live the consequences of your trade!
