5 Critical Lessons from the 2017 Assembly Election Results!

The 2017 Assembly elections were being followed closely by many and will prove to be an important milestone in the future of governance in Indian politics.  A few things have come out and some of the existing trends have been confirmed further!

5 Critical Lessons from the 2017 Assembly Election Results! #ElectionsResults2017 Click To Tweet

I think it is time to look at the top lessons from the final results – which are a victory for unabashed democratic expression of people!  Irrespective of what the politicians think and how the politicians want to slice and dice the population, people have a mind of their own.  And, in India, it is indeed fascinating to observe what they are saying with their vote.

2017 Assembly elections

Let us look at some of the lessons we should learn from this 2017 Assembly polls.

1 Pollsters, please find another job.  Seriously!  When you are THIS wrong, ALL THE TIME, then you aren’t just incompetent, you aren’t even a pollster.  If a chimpanzee was asked to pick winners, randomly, before the elections, I bet he would do a better job!  Only “Today’s Chanakya” has had some credibility as he comes the closest now and in the Lok Sabha elections of 2014.   If anyone was listening and on the ground and doing a good job with the surveys, I cannot believe that someone – ALL of those “someones” actually – could be SO off the mark all the time.  So, what gives?  Just one explanation.  These pollsters are sucking up to the political parties and have a vested interest themselves.  They are either monetarily compromised or ideologically aligned with certain political parties.  And, from the looks of it, it seems they are in bed with AAP.  If you see the news at the TV stations which have a tie up in the exit-polls with the statistical companies, you will see that they have an ideological bias towards AAP and Congress.  So, a simple question – why keep insulting our intelligence and humiliating yourself all the time.  Quit and enjoy life with the moneys these politicians sent your way.

2017 Exit Polls and Final Result

2 Muslims are not a Vote Bank, But the Radical Muslims and their shenanigans have changed the Muslim votes.  The Samajwadi party, the Congress, the AAP, BSP, Communists and TMC have become so besotted to the Muslim radical jehadi forces that they are openly anti-Hindu.  In Bengal for example, Mamata Bannerjee’s government sent notices to 125 schools with a Hindu affiliations.  This was in an obvious attempt to suck up to the jehadi elements.  Elements who are not just aligned with anti-national powers and organizations in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia but which are their proxies in India.  So, these parties are NO LONGER representing interests of Indian Muslims.  But of Jehadis who are proxies for Pakistan and Saudis.  The struggles and aspirations of Indian Muslims are very different.  They want progress as much as any one else.  So, this time, basis the ongoing debate of Triple-Talak, the Muslim women voted for BJP.  Also, Shias – worried about their safety as Wahabism amongst the Sunnis rises – have aligned with BJP and away from “Muslim oriented” parties.  The last thing that Shias or other denominations of Muslims would want to do is to live in a society ruled by Sunni dictat.  That will be the end of the road for them!  So the shenanigans of these political parties, which have aligned with the Jehadis, will not work anymore.

3 Anti-Hindu Bigotry will wipe out caste divisions.  Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have worked on a two-pronged strategy – Casteism for Hindu votes and Pandering to Jehadis for Muslim votes.  And, until now it was working.  There was a major exodus from Kairana in Shamli district of western Uttar Pradesh, where 250 Hindu families had to leave their homes and move out due to the terror and criminal activities of the Muslims against them and their women.  No one amongst these parties even raised their voice or investigate the extraordinary situation.  One wonder if it had been the other way round, what would have happened nation-wide?!  Worse, these parties tried to explain it away and discredit the whole concern and situation itself!  However, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) report was very clear on the situation and it was a damning critique of the party in power and its shenanigans.  The terror and crime that the Hindu families faced was obvious from the report:

NHRC found that that over 250 Hindu families had indeed left the town due to fear of the members of a particular community which was “in majority in the area”.
“At least 24 witnesses stated that the youths of the specific majority community (Muslims in this case) in Kairana town pass lewd/taunting remarks against the females of the specific minority community in town. Due to this, females of the specific minority community (Hindus) in Kairana town avoid going outside frequently. However, they could not gather courage to report the matter to the police for the legal action,” the report said.

These families were also facing the terror of the notorious gang leader Mukim Kala who was trying to throw the Hindus out by force.  And all this happened due to the actions taken in the aftermath of the MUzaffarnagar riots by the Samajwadi Party to the detriment of the Hindu families.

The report said the resettlement of over 25,000 members of the minority community in the aftermath of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots had led to a major change in the demography of many towns in the region, including Kairana. “Most of the witnesses and victims feel that the rehabilitation in 2013 has permanently changed the social situation in Kairana town leading to further deterioration of law and order in the area,” the report said.

The oft-repeated and empirically confirmed statement that whenever Muslims are in majority anywhere, they start attacking the non-Muslims and driving or finishing them was demonstrated YET again in Kairana!  What happened in Kairana was seen by Hindus around UP as a signal.  Given the outright bias against and shutting down of Hindu-oriented organizations in UP and attacks on Hindus an almost daily occurrence, the writing on the wall was clear.  To heck with the caste, unite as a Hindu!  Or be damned.  Thus, the shenanigans of SP and BSP to back the jehadi proxies helped in wiping out the caste divisions in UP during this elections.

4 Dynasty politics wont work.  Whether it was Punjab or UP, the dynastic rule was given a boot!  Badals have mis-ruled Punjab for many years now.  They have had the swagger of kings in Punjab and have indulged in several crimes themselves.  BJP harmed itself by aligning it with Akali Dal, but guess it is political maneuvering.  I do however believe that this loss of Shiromani Akali Dal will make it easy for BJP to break away from the Badals and go alone in the future polls.  In UP, the drama of the main boss of SP title did not help Akhilesh much.  He has been continuing the terrible work that his father was doing and all those who had hoped (Go figure!) that Akhilesh would do an honest and good job because he was fresh and young have been disappointed.  BJP was led in UP by its chief Keshav Prasad Maurya, someone who comes from a poor family with RSS background and is from the OBC.  Per the reports that Drishtikone has seen, Maurya will be the next Chief Minister of UP!

5 AAP is irrelevant.  Punjab was the showcase for AAP, after its victory in Delhi.  Congress has been vilified ad-nauseum by AAP and everyone else.  Its emergence in Punjab as the majority party was unthinkable before the elections!  Such was the swagger of AAP, that they had even posted banners for their victory.  Of course, in their confidence they had invited Navjot Siddhu out of BJP and then snubbed him by denied him any leadership role!

Future of governance

As Modi and his team wins elections and does work which is tangible and creating difference in the country and states, the focus of governance will have to shift to RESULTS.  No longer will public be satisfied with mere promises.  “What did you do?” will be the main question from the public to their politicians.  And, that is how it should be.  Many things need correction in many of these states.  Punjab needs Capt Amrinder Singh to get the drug situation in Punjab right, along with the increase in industry and employment.  In UP, BJP needs to get the Jehadi elements out of governance and relevance, and push for good governance which is equal for all and progressive.

At the end of s government’s period, people will need to understand what was actually done.  And, in this, manufactured and paid media stories, which most are these days in the Indian media, will not help these scoundrels who are in it only for plunder and power!

I can bet that Capt Amarinder Singh will emerge as one of the strongest leaders in Congress and more relevant than any of the Gandhis.  Since that party is not winning anywhere else and can hardly get any votes these days, this rare victory will help the stars of Capt Singh!  It maybe possible that Congress sees a revolt against the Gandhis soon.  If only the Captain can see to it that Punjab and its people get their due, things will improve.

It is time for governance guys.. tie your seat belts and get going!
