A new study lays to rest the nonsense that the right-wingers in US keep harping on. Global Warming IS real. Temperatures haven’t spiked like this in the last 11,000 years!…

Large Indian cities – specifically Delhi and Mumbai – are adding significantly to the climate issues around those areas. The heat index that these cities have due to concrete structures,…
If we needed any evidence that the planet is warming, then this is it, despite what those loony US republicans may want to say:
The greatest warming in 2007 occurred in the Arctic, and neighboring high latitude regions. Global warming has a larger affect in polar areas, as the loss of snow and ice leads to more open water, which absorbs more sunlight and warmth. Snow and ice reflect sunlight; when they disappear, so too does their ability to deflect warming rays. The large Arctic warm anomaly of 2007 is consistent with observations of record low geographic extent of Arctic sea ice in September 2007.
Ok, while the Americans are busy fretting their health-care plans.. it might be time better for the rest of the world citizens to think of "Boat-care plans"! For the world is soon going to get watery. Glaciers are melting, the ice on mountains and poles are breaking up – much faster than those science jokers thought a few years back (well, few = 5 in these times!).
So, either learn swimming or buy a good boat or a life-jacket. That may be the best insurance plan! Read what National Geographic says:
Remember the scenes from "The World After Tomorrow" where the sea comes inland? And the how the Global Warming experts talk about ocean-side cities and islands being covered by sea soon into the future? Well, the FUTURE has happened.. and in fact has been happening for last 15 years!! In Orissa.
Five Villages have been devoured by the sea. Tidal waves came and gobbled up villages and swept the houses and everything else. Thankfully there was no loss of life. Guys Global Warming is FOR REAL!!
On Wednesday, a big tidal wave hit the coast in the Satabhaya area of Kendrapara district. It swept away homes and inundated farmland. But was no exception.
Ok, these are the days of debating the effects of what we, humans, are doing on Global Warming. But here is a unique contribution – going to raise eyebrows – and kind of stretching the logic a long way…
This latest contribution to the obesity debate comes in an article by Sheldon H. Jacobson of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and his doctoral student, Laura McLay. Their paper, published in the current issue of The Engineering Economist, calculates how much extra gasoline is used to transport Americans now that they have grown fatter. The answer, they said, is a billion gallons a year.
Even the Big E (Exxon) has changed its stance on Global Warming now. It has decided to no longer live under the pretense as if nothing is happening! It was the only and the Biggest one of the Oil & gas to be thinking on green stuff.. but better late then never!
Big Oil behemoth Exxon Mobil Corp. has dropped any pretense of questioning whether global warming is real. Now the company is seeking to position itself as an active player in efforts to lower greenhouse gases.
"The appropriate debate isn’t on whether climate is changing, but rather should be on what we should be doing about it," Kenneth Cohen, Exxon’s vice president of public affairs, told reporters on a conference call Thursday.
No matter how strong body of knowledge exists on Global Knowledge.. there are some idiots who still keep throwing out nonsensical information bytes. Here is a skeptic of global warming… maybe he too dipped into the kitty from the Bush cronies?
* The United Nations is anti-American and anti-Capitalist. In short .. I don’t trust them. Not a bit. The UN would eagerly engage in any enterprise that would weaken capitalist economies around the world.
Friends, I have installed a new functionality to include and calculate our “Carbon Footprints” that we leave on this planet as in the amount of CO2 emitted in the process of my living everyday! It is a new concept but something that will help us understand how we are compromising the environment!
This module is still in its infancy here at Drishtikone but I will encourage you to try it out to see what damage you are doing to the environment and see how we collectively are messing up this planet!
Also you can check the footprints of every blogger (who has added it below the blog post).“Man is a child of his environment” ~ Shinichi Suzuki
In the rapidly declining health of our planet’s environment.. while the Chinese (and Americans) are busy ruining the environment with nonchalance… Europeans are serious about the recent report which pointed to the unbearably high overall costs of a degradation of the environment! The Europeans are planning a new Industrial Revolution!
The question that comes to your mind is – given the above contrasts: Is Economic Growth at the Cost of the Quality of Life (at its most basic level) worth it (or even sustainable)??
