In the world of today, the businesses around the have become intertwined like never before.
As freak an incident as Icelandic volcanic eruption may have been, it goes to show what weather and nature gone haywire can do to our best laid out plans.
Most of the world is reeling under extreme summer temperatures – and in Antartica the temperature reached a new low! So low that it created a cloud cover that requires temperatures below -80 Celsius! The measured temp was -87 C and winds of upto 230 KM/hr!!
Something about the weather is not quite right… as a layman.. I cannot say what though.. but something is amiss! I hope we can tackle the coming catastrophes if any!!
Some of the coldest temperatures on Earth have fostered a rare cloud formation over Australia’s Mawson station in Antarctica, scientists said on Tuesday. Meteorological officer Renae Baker captured spectacular images of the nacreous clouds, also known as polar stratospheric clouds, on July 25.
Just wanted to record this fact here on my blog.. the bird flu finally seems to be growing on into a human to human disease.. these are the first indications!
Health officials in Indonesia are still struggling to track down the source of a worrying family cluster of H5N1 bird flu infections as tests showed that two more people have died of the same disease.
One of the latest victims belonged to a Sumatran family, which lost several members earlier this month to bird flu, sparking fears of human-to-human transmission.
While H5N1 is still regarded as a bird disease, experts have warned for more than a year that it might mutate and pass efficiently between humans and cause a global pandemic.
It may soon become impossible to live on the coasts! I saw someone say that next century will see many once-prosperous cities in the US in ruins.. I dont know if the weather or natural disasters will directly do that.. but at least the market forces that are influenced by the disasters will make that happen!
Usually, the market forces do attempt to move the society in a certain way that it may not have been possible by design.. mostly its an aggregate of the selfish individual motives.. but in the end it turns out to be the most optimal decision.
Alarmed at the sharply rising cost of hurricanes and other disasters, home insurers are pulling back from some U.S.
This is yet another roof collapse in Europe! This season structures from IceSkating Rink to Mines to Markets seem to be caving in!
The concave, snow-covered roof of a large Moscow market collapsed early Thursday, killing at least 47 people and forcing rescuers to clear away concrete slabs and metal beams to reach possible survivors trapped in the wreckage, officials said.
A fire broke out on the edge of the collapse site mid-afternoon, sending acrid smoke billowing into the air. Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Viktor Beltsov said it erupted when a spark from an electric saw used to cut through metal ignited some paint, and that it posed no threat to anyone trapped in the wreckage.
Another Natural disaster!
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 has struck Mozambique, the US Geological Survey (USGS) in Denver, Colorado, said Wednesday.
The earthquake, centred about 530 kilometres north of Maputo, occurred at 12:19 a.m. Thursday (22:19 GMT Wednesday), the USGS said in a news release.
No reports of damage or casualties have been received, but the earthquake may have caused damage because of its location and size, the release said.
The earthquake was felt in Mutare, Zimbabwe’s third largest city on its eastern border with Mozambique. The tremor lasted for about an hour, according to people who live in Mutare.
