Sometimes it is said that the macrocosm is just a magnified view of the microcosm. That is the paradigm that fractals use. The smallest and the most basic organism on earth is an amoeba. Well, now scientists have found a 200 light years wide “amoeba like structure” which is made up of galaxies and large bubble of gas and are aligned along 3 curvy filaments, which are being said to be the largest known object in the Universe! Cosmic blobs that probably formed 2 billion years after the Big Bang. How did they form?
Scientists think they formed when massive stars born early in the history of the universe exploded as supernovas and blew out their surrounding gases. Another theory is that the bubbles are giant gas cocoons that will one day give birth to new galaxies.
The first set of Lyman Alpha Blobs (LABs) were discovered by Steidel, C. C.; Adelberger, K. L.; Shapley, A. E. in 2000. After that the search was extended and using the Subaru Telescope at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, team headed by Matsuda found 30 more blobs (although much smaller). The scientists used the Subaru and Keck telescopes on Mauna Kea to view these structures.
