This is Modi's election. And in that, this election is a battle for Indians to wrestle back their identities that have been assaulted and demonized. In order to facilitate colonial structures that perpetuate slavery. This Indian election is an exercise in freedom.
Not many realize that in India, as in the rest of the world, blogging has been growing and thriving. Although there are a lot of blogs, some stand out because of their content or the fans they have. India Uncut is one of the blogs which has its die hard fans. Well, BusinessWeek has finally recognized its strength and named the blogger, Amit Varma, as one of the top 50 Most Influential People in India. This is the first time such an honor has gone to a blogger in India.
I have believed for a long time that Blogs by normal people are going to upstage newspapers in the coming times. When that happens is not clear but as a medium of expression and analysis of the happenings in the world from a totally fresh perspective, nothing beats the blogs. The media journalists unfortunately, are prisoners of their own prejudices… and do so because of monetary compulsions – ad contributions et al – but bloggers really don’t have such a restriction. They can say their minds. Not that the bloggers are always unbiased.. but they have a better reason to be unbiased.
