Memogate Scandal: Pakistan’s dependence on outsiders

Haqqani.jpgPakistan has a problem these days. After Osama Bin Laden, it seems the President Asif Ali Zardari was worried about a military coup. And for that, a memo was drafted and handed over in Washington by the Pakistan Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, which seeked US help to help democracy remain intact.

The memogate is a big issue in Pakistan – specially amongst its analysts. What it underscores are a few points:

The fear of the military, which revels in siding with the terrorists. Otherwise, why would the fears have increased just when Osama was killed in a secret operation? Military obviously felt that it had been double-crossed to eliminate the Global Jehadi.
Even for its internal governance, Pakistan has to look for help from outside. Whether it is to make its ends meet or to keep itself intact, the country keeps looking at outsiders. And, worse, then turns around and keeps abusing them instead!

Watch this clip of a TV host to see how strongly he slams this tendency. What do you think of it and the phenomenon of playing the victim as well as the accuser at the same time?

Some interesting nuggets from Vasishtha's Yoga:- IN this world whatever is gained.. is gained only by self effort; where failure is encountered its is seen there has been slackness in the effort. This is obvious; but what is called fate is fictitious and not seen.- Self - effort is of two categories: that of the past births and that of this birth. The latter effectively counteracts the former. Fate is none other than self-effort of a past incarnation. There is constant conflict between these two in this incarnation; and that which is more powerful triumphs.- There is no power greater than right action in the present. Hence, one should take recourse to self -effort, grinding one's teeth, and one should overcome evil by good and fate by present effort.
