A 71 year old Detroit grandmother Leola Brock-Reese came to Chicago with her best friend Freddie a 77 year old. They went all over the city and in the evening they went to Grant Park hoping to catch Barack Obama’s speech. They sat on the steps in the Park and then decided their old bodies could not take it. So, they decided to go back to their Hotel – Hyatt Regency and went up to 28th floor.
On the way they met this group of guys walking with Barack Obama walking between them. He walked to them with his arms wide open and put his arms around Leola and said “I want to take a picture with you”. She was bewildered and said “Oh, fine!”.
Her friend wished Obama the best that night. And Obama broke the news:
“It’s over. I’ve won. I’m on my way to Grant Park now.”
The words never registered. They came back to the room and saw the CNN break the news.
