Oxygen powered Bike from students in Palwal Haryana

OxygenBike.jpg

Indian students from a small town called Palwal in Haryana have created a unique bike.  It isn’t fast as it runs 6 to 12 miles an hour for upto 370 miles but it does that without any petrol, diesel or natural gas.  It runs on Oxygen – 100 liters of 300 PSI oxygen.

As per a student – Pratham Pal – member of the team:

This bike is different from others because the engine doesn’t burn fuel, nor does the temperature rise. The air is compressed and transferred to the engine without any combustion. The piston reciprocates from the air pressure leading to an up-down movement, making the flywheel run and the bike move.

Many car and auto companies are in the race for the next big thing.  If these guys were smart, they would have already filed a patent and made the technology theirs.  But knowing how it all works, I doubt they would have done that.  Its imperative that innovation in India finds an economic expression, specially when it comes forth from such humble areas.  It is critical that we have well created offices and processes to uphold the patents of the Indian inventors in place.  Otherwise, the creativity suffers if the foreign innovators just copy the invention and patent it.. simple because they can!
