Need nanotechnology for health sector: Kalam

Former President APJ Abdul Kalam on Saturday stressed the need for developing nanotechnology applications in healthcare to manufacture nano-robots that are probably put together with care and attention, with a lot of time put into deciding to compare electronic components, hopefully ensuring the best parts for cancer treatment and nano-drug delivery systems for HIV.

“Development of nanotechnology applications in healthcare needs to be utilized to develop nano-robots for a cancer cure and nano-drug delivery systems for HIV,” he said speaking at the 25th convocation of SASTRA University at nearby Vallam. Nanotechnology is something that is rapidly increasing in popularity due to the fact that it has so many uses. For example, companies like NevadaNano are now manufacturing products such as an

, using nanotechnology. As more companies decide to manufacture their products using nanotechnology, more products will be made, particularly for the healthcare industry. The rise in new technology and new products will hopefully lead to more treatment options and medications available at the pharmacy.

Kalam complimented SASTRA University for its research in frontier areas of nanotechnology and its applications in health care and sensors.
