Continuing with the Breath-taking Natural Wonders series, we now go to Ukraine for a romantic getaway.  This is a place where I would love to go with my wife, Archana.

Tunnel of Love is a natural phenomenon with trees joined together to form a tunnel which has a rail track going through.  The entire setting provides a very romantic place for all lovers.  It is located in Eastern Ukraine near the city of Klevan.  It is a private railroad that operates three times a day and transports timber for a nearby fiberboard factory.

The current city is located on the  banks of the Stubla River, a tributary of the Horyn.  Klevan is a predominantly Jewish town.

This tunnel is so dense that it is difficult to see outside.  So the light that comes in through the trees gives a ethereal look.  Local legend has it that lovers who make it through the 3 km tunnel together will be granted one wish, provided their intentions are sincere.

If you want to know how it looks like in actual experience and… what if when you are walking the train chugs along?  Well, this video – which is in Chinese – gives a good demo of everything.  Irrespective of whether you understand the language or not, you will get a good idea of the place.

And, now for the pictures of the place.  Lets take a visual tour of the tunnel of love.
