Barely a few months into power Modi Government faced a rather stark situation.   A deadly ambush by Tribal guerrillas had attacked Indian Soldiers killing 20 brave men using rocket-propelled grenades and detonating improvised explosive devices in Manipur.  The guerrillas, as was their practice ran back into Myanmar where they had safe harbor.

Indian Army commandos launched a swift clinical strike across the border and retaliated in a rather punitive manner.  The surgical strike left the Naga insurgents reeling in pain as commandos crack team left between 30-50 dead!

The decision for hot pursuit was taken by PM Narendra Modi and his ministers and the PM was in complete know and control of the situation.

The decision of “hot pursuit” was taken hours after the Naga militants killed 18 soldiers in an ambush in Chandel area of Manipur on June 4 and clearance was obtained from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the night of June 7, soon after his return from Bangladesh, said sources privy to the details.

When stuck with terrorists, the idea that India will give a punitive response and go for Hot Pursuit is something that is very specific to the PM Modi government.

It is now learnt that PM Modi gave the go ahead along with his ministers for the hot pursuit of the terrorists in their launching pads across the LOC and in the intervening night of September 20 and 21, the surgical strike was carried out, as per Quint which has received information from multiple Military sources.

Two units of the elite 2 Paras comprising 18-20 soldiers flew across the LoC in the Uri sector in military helicopters and reportedly carried out an operation that killed at least 20 suspected terrorists across three terror camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Total casualties, including those injured, could be as high as 200, sources said.  Military sources revealed to The Quint, which confirmed this information from two other independent sources, that the operation happened during the intervening hours of 20 September and 21 September.

The damage inflicted on the terror camps has been tremendous and it is said to have been the point of discussion between Nawaz Sharif and the Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday night prior to the UN General Assembly speech.  This news has also been shared by Retired Indian Air Marshal Anil Chopra.

On September 22nd, the first national level daily to report the news was Dainik Bhaskar.

This is probably the first time that India has clearly indicated since its independence that terror groups and those who want to use violence against us will not go unpunished.  Quite simply – Do not mess with India!

There was a time when forces of terror and violence around the country not just infiltrated into our rank and file but also hit us with impunity.  Now, they will know that they will be hunted and killed.  Terror is no option anymore against India!
