Ayodhya’s First FIR on Entry of Babri Masjid was against the Sikhs in 1858!

Five justices bench of Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and comprising justices SA Bobde, Ashok Bhushan, DY Chandrachud and S Abdul Nazeer, gave a landmark verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi on November 9, 2019.

A dispute that was standing for a long time got its resolution now.  A lot of lives have been lost.  On 30th October and 2nd November for example, hundreds and some say thousands of Hindus were shot down in cold blood by the Mulayam Singh government and the dead were thrown into the Saryu river in sacks.  Such has been the intolerant humiliating subjugation of Hindus by those who were either from the minority community or aligned to it.

But what is most interesting is that the modern-day action at Babri Masjid occurred on November 30th, 1858.  That was when a group of Sikhs went into the Babri Masjid to do Ram naam jaap and havan.  A Mohammad Asghar filed the first FIR with respect to Babri Masjid and Ram Janmabhoomi issue.  The issue was closed by the eviction of the Sikhs from Babri Masjid on November 30th, 1858.

That urge to recognize and consecrate the place where one of the greatest icons of Indian civilization, Ram, was born, had been burning in the hearts of those who held him high for centuries now.  Not just in the hearts of who are now called (and often derided by the so-called Secular media as) “Bhakts”, but also those who chose to follow the footsteps of the Sikh Gurus.  Gurus, who always held Krishna, Shiva and Ram above all beings who walked this geography.

The pain, humiliation and the injustice that came with the desecration and demolition of so many consecrated spaces in India has remained far too long, as Ayodhya’s first FIR shows.  It was time now to free India of this scourge finally.
