Children Of Parents Included In Assam NRC Will Not Be Sent To Detention Centres : AG Tells SC

This was cleared up with respect to the children of the people who were in the NRC would not be separated at all.

The Attorney General of India K K Venugopal on Monday assured the Supreme Court that children of persons included in Assam NRC will not be sent to detention centres while the Court is considering the application seeking protection of such children. The AG made this submission before a bench of CJI SA Bobde, Justices Surya Kant and B R Gavai in an application which pointed out that many children were excluded from the Assam NRC despite their parents being included in the list. There is no reason why this should have been happening in the first case.  Apparently, a legacy from the old regime, which should have been closed long back.
