A young Muslim girl – who is a Lesbian as well – shared some tweets which have become viral. She introduces herself as “Muslim, Feminist, Desi, Bi+, Disabled, Trans* (they/them), Writer, Speaker, @NUS_LGBT+ officer-elect, Mum to Kitty“.
Her tweets below show her confused state of mind and fight of one part of her identity with the other. She is a Muslim -whatever that means to her – and she is Lesbian – something she cannot do anything about. She is conflicted between Islamophobia and so-called “Homophobia”. She is concerned how LGBTs will exhibit Islamophobia and Muslims will exhibit “Homophobia”. And she decries both. These days it is a great virtue to appear to be “balanced” as opposed to being Honest!
Just for context, this is what Quran says:
“And (We sent) Lot when he said to his people: What! do you commit an indecency which any one in the world has not done before you? Most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are an extravagant people. And the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves). So We delivered him and his followers, except his wife; she was of those who remained behind. And We rained upon them a rain; consider then what was the end of the guilty.”
This is what the Hadith says. Just for context, Abdullah ibn Abbas was one of the very close associates of Prophet Mohammad and his cousin as well. In fact, on his birth, Mohammad took his saliva and put on the infant’s tongue with the statement that they will always be very close. That close associate was the greatest scholar on Quran in his time. He is the one who shares what Mohammad actually thought of LGBTs.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet cursed effeminate men; those men who are in the similitude (assume the manners of women) and those women who assume the manners of men, and he said, “Turn them out of your houses.” The Prophet turned out such-and-such man, and ‘Umar turned out such-and-such woman.— Sahih al-Bukhari, 7:72:774 see also Sahih al-Bukhari, 8:82:820
The punishment as per the Prophet – for LGBTs – is clearly death. Let us be clear about it – the guy who created Islam.. the very fountainhead of Islam very clearly enunciated the fate of LGBTs. Death!
So what Omar Mateen did was as much Islamic as Prophet Mohammad is. Some Muslims, who want to sanitize Islam with a little more vigor than others – like Tarek Fatah, for example – dismiss the Hadiths but stick with Quran. Well, Allah wasn’t much different in his views from his messenger after all. He also wants the LGBTs to be punished!
Admittedly, the hatred and the story of Lot/Lut is common to all Abrahamic faiths. But that doesn’t absolve Mohammad of adopting it and then enhancing it with the decree to kill. Does it?!
The truth is Abrahamic theology is heavily loaded against LGBTs. But in no other faith is the religion as much part of polity and world-view as in Islam. And, in no other faith are people so motivated to kill as in Islam. If you think that the Muslims who are FOR Sharia and hold extreme views against LGBTs are a “minority” then think again! Here is the Pew Report with extensive surveys from the Islamic world – The World’s Muslims Religion, Politics and Society. Here is a glimpse of the results. Majority of Muslims around the world are in agreement with their Prophet on treatment of the LGBTs.
So now, let us get back to our Muslim-LGBT activist. Between Islamophobic-LGBTs and Homophobic-Muslims, she forgets one major difference. Islamophobic-LGBTs are “Islamophobic” because the fear for their life at the hands of Islamo-brainwashed Muslims. For these people are looking to emulate the Prophet. And KILL! So an LGBT who is Islamophobic is phobic because of real and clear fear of life.
A Homophobic-Muslim has never been attacked or paid with his life at the hands of an LGBT. No creed tells any LGBT to kill Muslims. No LGBT Prophet ever came and none ever proclaimed what the god told him to do to Muslims. And if you really see it is not just literally incorrect but extremely cruel to even call a Muslim who wants to follow his Prophet in killing an LGBT as “Homophobic”! There is NO PHOBIA working here. But hate! So there is no such thing as Homophobic-Muslim. But Homohating-Muslim.
Now, if we look at things the way THEY ARE as opposed to through a foggy lens of masochistic PC-ness, we will find that there really is no conflict. One is very clear – s/he is fearful for his life because of another’s religious duty; and so is the other – s/he needs to kill the other because of one’s religious duty.
By shielding Islam and Muslims – who share the burden of their religious edicts for they can denounce and reject that anti-humanity faith altogether – she is endorsing the creed of Mohammad. Which is to kill LGBTs.
In the end, she will end up being viral and nice and goody-goody, and of course wishy-washy… and prepare grounds for more Muslims to kill more LGBTs.
This hatred for fellow human beings by categorizing them as X or Y or Z is anti-humanity. And it is FUNDAMENTAL to Islamic theology and practice. Such creed or views in any other fora would be instantly dealt with severely. The ONLY reason why they are being given a pass is because over a billion people hold it as Articles of their “faith”.
Some day as humanity we will have to answer – as to how long will the Pure Hate and Evil hide behind the cloak of Faith and kill and rape humanity with impunity? There is no redemption or reform for we know what goes on with Ahmediyas or Shias or Sufis.
Yes, most Muslims are not devils that their faith would ordain them to be if they followed their Prophet. And that is because their humanity wins over their faith. Not because their faith makes them a better human being. For, as someone with the kind of ideas that the Prophet shared, and the degree to which that creed is ordained to be followed and is done so, a person with Islamic ideology ingrained in him or her is a LOADED GUN. If the circumstances turn stark and if the trigger is right, it can go off. As it did in Orlando and does in many other places around the world every day!
