The intellectuals keep arguing about the great need for democracy, the freedoms and the rest of all those great sounding things. But they use that rhetoric to subjugate the one component that enables democracy to be what it was imagined to be.
That component is agency.

Bold, refreshing (if implemented and implementable), and transformative for the world that wants peace (specifically, that used to be full of progressives some years back but is no more).
And that triggered an immediate sell-off of major defense contractors' stocks, reigniting debates about the sustainability of military budgets and the geopolitical implications of arms control diplomacy.
In any other sane era of progressive sensibilities, this would have been a game-changer for the leftist world. But not at this time.

Lockheed Martin shares fell 1.6%, Northrop Grumman plunged 3.4%, and General Dynamics lost 2.1% within hours of the announcement.
This announcement is significant because the US spends more on defense than the 10 other countries combined.
And that is huge!
Unfortunately, this comes at a time when Europe's arms imports have doubled in the last 10 years.
The so-called "peaceniks" among progressives, who once championed nuclear disarmament, revealed their ideological hypocrisy when Trump proposed a 50% reduction in nukes with China and Russia. Their silence was deafening—not because the goal had changed, but because they despised the messenger. For years, they demanded arms control, yet when a non-leftist leader pursued it, they refused to acknowledge or support it. Their selective activism exposed their agenda: politics over principle. This double standard underscores how ideology, not genuine commitment to peace, dictates their actions. When faced with a choice between Trump and disarmament, they chose their ideological grudge.
With that as the background, let us now go to the most significant conference and speech in recent times.
US Vice President JD Vance delivered a speech at the Munich Security Conference that was, in our view, phenomenal in its context and content.
Never before has one seen a Vice President deliver such aggressive, clear, direct, and hard-hitting notes on foreign soil while addressing that country, and indeed continents, leadership.
The central message was about the state of Democracy and the value of a citizen's voice in their own governance. A voice that has been trampled upon mercilessly by the elite in the Western hemisphere. In the US and Europe.
Vance reinforced his message with concrete examples.
And his statements, as powerful as they were, were met with complete silence.
This speech has led to sharp reactions in Europe.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz took that as an affront and has, as per the local papers, "rebuked" US Vice President Vance for "interfering in his country's imminent elections."
This comes from the leader of a country that has worked to defend terrorists who have killed thousands for being Hindu or not agreeing with their fascist ideologies.
Cloaked in hifalutin moral terms like "opposing death penalty", German Ambassador Steiner interfered in the legal process in India and the internal national security by batting for a Khalistani terrorist Bhullar in 2013.
A terrorist from a group whose inherent ideology is no different from the Nazi ideology.
His sentence was commuted in 2014 - any guesses why?
There was another recent example of such interference by the Germans in India recently, which was rebuffed.
An opposition Indian leader, Arvind Kejriwal, was given a jail sentence by the judiciary and German Foreign Ministry seemed very hurt.
"We have taken note, India is a democratic country. We assume and expect that the standards relating to independence of Judiciary and basic democratic principles will also be applied in this case. Like anyone facing accusations, Mr Kejriwal is entitled to a fair and impartial trial, this includes he can make use of all available legal avenues without restrictions. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron is convening European leaders in Paris to strategize on handling the impact of the Trump presidency. The meeting underscores Europe's concerns over transatlantic relations, NATO commitments, and trade policies.
Apparently, Macron's aim is to unify Europe’s stance, ensuring preparedness for shifts in U.S. foreign policy that could impact security, economics, and global diplomacy.
Zelenskyy’s call for an “Armed Forces of Europe” signals frustration with NATO’s slow, bureaucratic decision-making and Europe’s reliance on the U.S. for security. He envisions a rapid-response force, independent yet possibly partnered with the U.S., to counter Russia without involving NATO or the US. This is a direct threat to the US as well going forward.
There was another compelling exchange during the Munich Security Conference. It was a conversation between Indian Foreign Minister Dr. Jaishankar, Norwegian Jonas Gahr Støre, Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski, and Democratic U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin.
The discussions and stances in and by that panel where Dr. Jaishankar participated (his was the lone voice of dissent), were clearly not appreciative of what US VP Vance had said.
That is why one saw Democrat Senator Elissa Slotkin peddling her own ideology there and almost no representation from the MAGA side even to understand that side of American politics.
A side, which, by the way, is the dominant ruling dispensation. Proving Vance's assertion of suppression of ideas that challenge the self-appointed "Democracy Champions" to be a veritable truth.

If you peruse the European media, you will realize that the very virus that inflicted the leaders, the journalists and the think-tankers in Munich and those in the US has inflicted every Oped writer in European media.
Either it is ridicule or antagonism to anyone who does not want to be controlled by the elite few in an uber-elitist EU parliament.
How does one make sense of all of this? After all, something seems to be off.
Even when Vance shares - and Jaishankar reiterates - the very values of democracy that have been extolled over the last few centuries - beautifully summarized by Lincoln as "for the people, by the people, of the people" - were accepted with hostility and sneers by those fancy themselves as the champions of democracy. Such is their swagger that they will not allow others even to get a word sideways. For their word is the moral benchmark.
So sideline, to discredit and to cancel such opinions, they have memes. "Nazi," "Fascist," "Nationalist," and "Authoritarian" tags are enough of an argument. They do not have to explain themselves once they throw those bricks at someone.
It is an exercise in what I would call a "Meme Morality".

Today, Democracy, for example, is not predicated on the process (where the voice of the people triumphs) but on the results (where the winners the elites like equate to a victory of democracy and the reverse is an attack on it).
How did we come to a point where people and their definitions took precedence over the process itself?
Before we go there, let us look at the business of agency. How elites snatch agency from the characters in their "game" - us - to run the game the way they want.
Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in video games exist to serve the player’s experience. They follow scripts, repeat programmed lines, and react in predictable ways. They do not think, question, or act beyond their coding. Their role? To populate the game world, provide information, and maintain the illusion of a dynamic reality.
Now, take this concept and apply it to society. Imagine a world where vast portions of the population behave like NPCs—not because they are digital constructs but because they have been mentally conditioned to function that way. This is the ultimate goal of the power-grabbing elite: a society of NPCs who do not think, only react. Who do not question, only obey. Who do not challenge, only comply.

A thinking, questioning, and independent populace threatens power. That is why elites engineer conformity.
The NPC phenomenon is not just a meme. It describes a controlled, manufactured reality where independent thought is suffocated, and society becomes an easily manipulated game world—where the elites play, and the NPCs simply exist.
And, transforming populations into NPCs—passive, programmed, and obedient—has been a deliberate project of the powerful for centuries. The deep state, global elites, and ideological controllers have used history, media, and social engineering to strip populations of independent thought, replacing it with a reflexive, conditioned response to authority.
Let us look at some concrete examples.
The assimilation doctrine was France’s grand colonial strategy—not just to rule Africa, but to reshape it in its own image. Unlike the British model of indirect rule, which allowed some local autonomy, France sought to erase indigenous identities and turn colonized Africans into mere extensions of the French state. It was not just about domination; it was about absorption—a colonial Frankenstein experiment to create subservient subjects who would never challenge their masters.
At the heart of assimilation was the idea that Africans could "earn" their place in French society—but only by abandoning their roots, traditions, and identities. The French colonial administration presented itself as a civilizing force, preaching that to be accepted, one had to speak French, dress French, think French, and ultimately, become French—at least in theory.
But the truth?
According to Harvard professor and critical theorist Homi K. Bhabha, "mimicry" refers to the process by which colonized individuals imitate their colonizers' culture, language, and customs. However, mimicry is not merely blind imitation, nor does it imply the colonized person's complete assimilation into the dominant culture.
Instead, Bhabha argues that mimicry involves an exaggerated and imperfect copying of the colonizer's language, culture, manners, and ideas, resulting in a distorted reflection of the original. That is the critical part - colonial enterprise was the effort to create "a reformed, recognizable Other, as a subject of a difference that is almost the same, but not quite."
This imperfect replication is what Bhabha terms "repetition with difference," highlighting how colonized people maintain their distinctiveness even as they adopt certain aspects of the colonizer's culture.
The idea is to erase the inherent culture and destruction of whatever is of value there and to create a society of mimic men and women, who are "almost the same, but not quite," for the right of rejection remains with the colonizer.
While France dictated identity and thought, it also engineered an economic trap to ensure African nations would never escape its grip.
Those who believe colonization is over have no idea or are complicit participants.
The ultimate success of assimilation was not just material or economic—it was psychological. Generations of Africans were conditioned to see themselves as permanent subjects, never sovereign individuals.
Even today, Francophone Africa remains caught in this matrix:

Blaise Compaoré was a close associate of the first president, Thomas Sankara, during the 1980s and in October 1987 he led a coup d'état during which Sankara was killed. It is said that France orchestrated the coup.
Colonel Gaddafi met a similar fate.

Let us now go to another example of how the creation of an NPC-society has been attempted.
The release of the CIA’s “Family Jewels” in 2007 provided a rare glimpse into the agency’s covert, often illegal, activities between 1959 and 1973.
These documents confirmed what many had long suspected: the CIA was engaged in domestic surveillance, political subversion, and outright criminal operations—despite being legally prohibited from domestic activities.

William Colby, then-CIA Director, referred to these reports as the “skeletons in the CIA’s closet”, but in truth, they were more than mere historical embarrassments.
Seymour Hersh’s 1974 exposé in The New York Times detailed the CIA’s massive illegal operations against domestic dissidents, proving that opposition to government policy was enough to warrant surveillance and suppression.

During the Cold War, the CIA understood that controlling the narrative meant controlling the population.

While the IOJ’s fall marked the decline of Soviet media control, the U.S. deep state adapted its information warfare tactics. Today, instead of traditional media alone, narrative control is enforced through:

Now we move to two different aspects of global societies that have been infiltrated and shaped in the NPC format.
The NPC Economy is the inevitable result of a global system designed to suppress independent thought, enforce compliance, and turn populations into passive economic actors.
In the West, this took the form of the Distraction Economy, where corporate and state interests merged to keep citizens engaged but uninformed.
The 24/7 news cycle, social media echo chambers, and entertainment industries ensured that public discourse remained emotionally charged but intellectually stagnant.
Outrage over social issues, political scandals, and viral controversies became the defining feature of Western culture, preventing people from questioning deeper economic and structural power dynamics.
Algorithmic manipulation reinforced tribalism over truth, ensuring that both sides of any debate remained entrapped in a controlled dialectic, never addressing the true mechanisms of power.
In this model, people were not citizens making informed decisions—they were consumers, endlessly distracted, conditioned to react rather than think.
In the Global South, the NPC Economy took a different but equally insidious form.
Latin America was subjected to Neoliberal Shock Therapy, where IMF and World Bank loans became weapons of control.
Countries were forced into debt cycles that permanently stripped them of economic sovereignty, locking them into an extractive system that benefitted Western corporate interests.
Meanwhile, China developed its own NPC control model, replacing economic subjugation with a surveillance-driven obedience state.
The social credit system, internet censorship, and financial incentives created a population that self-policed, ensuring compliance without the need for overt force.
Whether through media distraction, debt servitude, or surveillance capitalism, the NPC Economy ensures that people remain workers, consumers, and dependents—but never truly free agents.
The woke movement is the latest and most insidious tool for shaping NPC societies—an ideology weaponized to destroy traditional structures, enforce conformity, and eliminate dissent.
In the United States, this is nothing short of Cultural Revolution 2.0, where radical identity politics have replaced rational discourse. This NPC army, programmed through social conditioning, does not think—it reacts. In Europe, the woke movement manifests as thought policing, particularly in the context of mass migration policies imposed by globalist elites. Any critique of immigration, cultural erosion, or the dismantling of national identity is deemed hate speech, making once-sovereign nations easy to control through demographic destabilization.
Meanwhile, in India, woke ideology—funded by Western NGOs, think tanks, and elite universities—is used to deconstruct indigenous identity, portraying Hindu traditions as oppressive while elevating Western secularism as superior. This narrative seeks to replace India’s historical consciousness with a colonial mindset, reducing Indians to NPCs in a globalist ideological order where their own heritage is delegitimized. Across the world, wokeism isn’t about justice—it’s about submission.

Can we lift ourselves and increase our "Agency" to go from an NPC to a High Agency human being?
There are 58 million US-dollar millionaires in the world today (Source: Al Jazeera). Yet, most of them are at the mercy of the forces around them to function.
Here came Donald Trump to change the way things were being done in the US and through it, the world.
You may like what he does or not but he lives a high agency life where his work will turn the power structures that make the rules on their head.
The bottom line is that he is not playing by the rules.
The same goes for Elon Musk. He has changed how space exploration and rocketry work. That part is known. What is not known is that Elon Musk brings - through his team - the world and performance of high agency to every task he undertakes.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang shared how Elon Musk and the xAI team was able to set up the Colossus supercomputer, with 100,000 Nvidia GPUs, in just 19 days.
He called it a "superhuman" feat.
He noted that this process typically takes other companies four years, with three years for planning and one year for implementation.
Huang highlighted Musk's exceptional understanding of engineering and resource management, stating that such speed and scale had never been achieved before and is unlikely to be replicated by others soon.
So the question is what is High Agency?
High agency is the ability to see obstacles, challenges, and resistance not as dead ends, but as problems to be solved. It is the mindset that refuses to accept external limitations as absolute. It is the opposite of passivity—the opposite of being an NPC, someone who merely follows scripts dictated by society, government, or culture.
People with high agency do not wait for permission. They do not succumb to "rules" that are unwritten but deeply ingrained. Instead, they identify leverage points, bend systems to their will, and take decisive action to shape reality.
A high-agency individual believes they can change their fate, while an NPC believes the world happens to them. This is the fundamental distinction between leaders, disruptors, and visionaries versus passive followers, corporate drones, and the politically controlled masses.
As Musk and Trump's cases show, it is not enough to have talent. When appropriate agency is combined with talent, what that person can achieve is truly superhuman, as Jensen Huang calls the X data center work out.
And this impact of high agency shows up even more clearly in the case of the current Indian PM Narendra Modi.
Modi came from outside the power elite of India’s ruling class. He was not from a political dynasty, yet he crushed entrenched political families and rewrote India's political and economic destiny. His high agency was in refusing to accept that a tea-seller’s son could not lead the world’s largest democracy.
Lesson? Background doesn’t matter. Agency does.
And then there is a hostile consequence of agency as well.
